India ranked fifth in the world in terms of number of High Net worth Individuals (HNIs), according to the Knight Frank Wealth Report 2013. High Net worth Individuals are the ones with the net assets of 150 crore Rupees to 160 crore Rupees. According to the report, as of 2012, the number of billionaires in India was 122 and by 2022, the number is expected to increase to 225.
The Knight Frank Wealth Report 2013 revealed that despite the economic concerns, by 2022, there would be an increase of billionaires in Mumbai by 137 percent and approximately 120 percent in Delhi. In the report, Mumbai was ranked at 7th position with 2105 HNIs in top 30 global cities. In the same list, Delhi was ranked at 11th position with 1945 HNIs.
In the report, the country that topped in the category of top 10 countries for billionaires was US with 543 billionaires. The city which ranked first in the list of top 30 global cities was New York, followed by London.

India and Republic of Portugal Signed a Social Security Agreement

The bilateral social security agreement would help in taking advantage of the emerging employment opportunities and strengthening the trade and investments between the two countries. At present about 75000 Indians are living in Portugal and it includes self-employed people as well as working professionals.
Benefits that Indian nationals working in Portugal will get with the Social Security Agreement:-
• For short term contract of up to 5 year, no social security contribution should be paid under the Portuguese law by the detached workers, in case they are making their contribution of the social security payment in India.
• In case an employee is sent to Republic of Portugal by an Indian Company from a third company then also the benefits of the agreement will be available to the Indian worker.
• Indian workers shall be entitled to the export of the social security benefit if they relocate to India after the completion of their service in Republic of Portugal.
• The self-employed Indians in Republic of Portugal would also be entitled to export of social security benefit on their relocation to India.
• The period of contribution in one contracting state will be added to the period of contribution in the second contracting state for determining the eligibility for social security benefits.
India has signed the Social Security Agreement with 17 countries of the world and they are Belgium, Germany (Social Insurance), Hungary, Switzerland, France, The Czech Republic, Republic of Korea, Germany (Comprehensive SSA), Luxemburg, The Netherlands, Japan, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Canada, Sweden and Austria.

First Smartphone into Space Launched Successfully From India
The Surrey Space Centre (SSC) of the University of Surrey on 26 February 2013 announced that STRaND-1, a nano-satellite carrying a smartphone was launched successfully into space from India. With this launch, India became the first country to successfully launch the first smartphone of the world.
About STRaND-1 and apps on board:-
STRaND-1 is the training and demonstration mission which is designed in order to test the commercial shelf technology in space. There are certain applications on board STRaND-1. These applications were designed by the winners of social networking site, Facebook competition which was organised in 2012.
STRaND-1 mission weighs 4.3 kg and was launched in 785km Sun-synchronous orbit on the PSLV launcher of ISRO.
• For example, iTesa will help in recording the magnitude of the magnetic field which surrounds the smartphone during its orbit. The app called iTesa will in turn also help in detection of magnetic oscillations in the upper atmosphere, called Alfven waves.
• Another app called Scream in Space was designed by the Cambridge University Space Flight. This application will be making use of the speakers of smartphones.
• Yet another app is called STRAND Data. This application will help in showing the satellite telemetry on the display of the smartphone. This in turn would be visible on the additional camera on-board. This eventually will allow new graphical telemetry for interpreting the trends.
• 360 app allows taking images with the help of camera of smartphone. This application will also help in using the technology on-board for establishing the position of STRaND-1.

Switzerland Best Place to be Born in the World, India Ranked 66th: Survey
Switzerland, which is said to be the tourist paradise, emerged as best place to be born in 2013, as per the survey held by the Economist Intelligence, the sister company of The Economist. India was ranked 66th, among the last 15 countries where a baby should begin life.
The worst place for a baby to start life was violence-hit African country Nigeria. The survey included 80 nations and Australia ranked second followed by Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Singapore, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Canada and New Zealand were also ranked among top 10.
The survey included significant parameters to judge the best country to be born and these factors included demography, geography, cultural and social characteristics, state of economy, future income per head as well as public policy.
None of the economically emerging countries were ranked impressively in survey and the worst places were India and Russia ranked at 66th and 72nd places respectively. Brazil managed to grab a rank in the middle and stood at 37th position. China in the meanwhile ranked 49th and South Africa was ranked 53rd.
A similar survey was also conducted 25 years ago and US ranked first at that time. Now, US dropped down significantly to the 16th position followed by UAE and South Korea.
Britain was ranked 27th behind Taiwan (14th position), Kuwait (22nd position) and Chile (23rd position). France that ranked 2nd in 1988 came down to 26th position in this survey.
The survey clarified that the rankings were based on opportunities which the country provided to a baby for safe, healthy and prosperous life ahead.

Global Terrorism Index Revealed:- India Ranked Among Top FiveTerror-Hit Nations

| New index called Global Terrorism Index (GTI) prepared by Australian think tank revealed on 4 December 2012 that India, Afghanistan and Pakistan were the most terrorism-hit nations in 2011. |
- The figures revealed that there were 529 terrorist incidents in 2011 and they had tolled lives of 402 people, injuring 687 people.
- The numbers were higher in 2006 to 2010 time period when the number of casualties averaged greater than 600 people per year, rising to 735 people in 2009 and 772 in 2010.
- In the year 2011, India, Pakistan, Russia as well as Middle East were most affected by terrorism.
- Out of 159 countries that were surveyed, India ranked number 4. Iraq was at the first position followed by Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and Yemen respectively.
- The GTI showed that terrorism in the world started escalating after an increase in Iraq war. Consequently, it was followed by increasing terrorism in Afghanistan and later in Pakistan after 18 months.
- The index also revealed that merely 31 countries out of surveyed 159 did not experience a single terrorist attack since 2001.
